Butter cream icing or Butter cream frosting is a simple and straightforward, egg less and cheap frosting for decorating cakes for weddings, birthday celebrations, Christmas and all other get celebrations. As as far as i am concerned, cakes decorated with butter frosting is much softer and tastier and it is even much more pliable to work with especially with spreading on the cake compared with other forms of cake decorating like fondant icing and royal icing. I prefer it for decorating my cakes because it works very well for me as it takes much less time and energy. The ingredients needed for butter frosting are very easy to come by and they should be used at room temperature.
1/2 cup (1 stick) Butter or margarine
4 cups Icing Sugar
1 tsp. Liquid flavour – You may use vanilla if you choose
2 tbsps. Milk
Step 1: In a small bowl or plate, combine the flavor (vanilla, if that is what you choose) with the milk
Step 2: In a bigger bowl or large bowl, cream the butter and icing sugar together, adding one cup of icing sugar at a time, beating properly right after each every single addition.
Step 3: Beat in the milk and flavor (vanilla) mixture and continue mixing until the mixture gets very light and fluffy.
Step 4: You may choose to add any color of your choice (remember to add a little at a time so you can get the exact shade of color you desire.
Step 5: Cover up your frosting and keep in a cool place until you are ready to use. You may also refrigerate your frosting but be sure to get it out of the fridge some minutes into your decoration so it can return to room temperature.
